For Tires, there are many types of tire patterns, but in summary, there are three main types: common patterns, cross-country patterns, and mixed patterns.
(1), common pattern: ordinary pattern is suitable for use on hard road. It is divided into vertical patterns, horizontal patterns and vertical and horizontal patterns.
a), longitudinal pattern: The common feature of the longitudinal pattern is that the tread is continuous in the longitudinal direction and the transverse direction is broken. Therefore, the longitudinal rigidity of the tread is large, and the lateral stiffness is small. The anti-slip ability of the tire is strong and weak. This pattern tire has a small rolling resistance and good heat dissipation performance, but the pattern groove is easy to be embedded in the gravel. Taken together, this type of pattern is suitable for driving on a clean, good hard road. For example, cars, light and mini trucks have chosen this pattern.
b), horizontal pattern: The common feature of the horizontal pattern is that the tread is transversely continuous and longitudinally broken, so the tread has a large lateral stiffness and a small longitudinal stiffness. Therefore, the tire's anti-sliding ability is vertical and weak. When the car is turning at a higher speed, it is easy to skid; the rolling resistance of the tire is also relatively large, and the tread wear is serious. This type of pattern is suitable for medium or heavy-duty trucks with a relatively high traction on a general hard road.
c) Vertical and horizontal patterns: This pattern is between the vertical and horizontal patterns. There is generally a meandering longitudinal pattern in the middle of the tread, and a transverse pattern on both sides of the shoulder. In this way, the vertical and horizontal anti-sliding ability of the countertop is better. Therefore, this type of tire has strong adaptability and wide application range. It is suitable for different hard roads and is suitable for cars and trucks.
(2) cross-country pattern: the common feature of cross-country pattern is that the pattern groove is wide and deep, and the grounding area of the block is relatively small (about 40%~60%). When driving on a soft road surface, a part of the soil will be embedded in the groove of the pattern, and the part of the soil embedded in the groove must be sheared before the tire may slip. Therefore, the gripping force of the pattern is larger. Root test, on the muddy road, the traction of the same model vehicle using the cross-country pattern wheel can reach 1.5 times of the ordinary pattern.
Cross-country patterns are divided into two types: undirected and directional. The directional pattern is directional when used. Off-road tires are suitable for use on rugged roads, soft dirt roads and roadless areas. Since the contact pressure of the block is large and the rolling resistance is large, it is not suitable for long-term driving on a good hard road surface. Otherwise, the tire wear will be aggravated, the fuel consumption will be increased, and the vehicle running vibration will be more severe.
(3) Mixed pattern: The mixed pattern is a transitional pattern between the ordinary pattern and the cross-country pattern. It is characterized in that the middle portion of the tread has narrow groove grooves with different directions or longitudinal directions, and on both sides, wide grooves with different directions or transverse directions are used. This pattern matching makes the mixed pattern have good comprehensive performance and strong adaptability. It is suitable for both good hard pavement and gravel pavement, slush pavement and soft pavement. Its adhesion performance is better than ordinary pattern, but its wear resistance is less. At present, some trucks and four-wheel drive passenger cars use this type of pattern tires.
In addition to the above three patterns, there are the following three patterns: single-guide pattern, block pattern, and asymmetrical pattern.
(4) Single guide pattern: The single guide pattern is that the grooves are connected to each other and have an independent block structure. It has excellent braking performance, excellent drainage performance, excellent stability performance in rainy days, and is suitable for high speed driving. However, the tire must be installed in the same position as the driving direction. Suitable for use in high speed cars.
(5) Block pattern: The grooves are connected to each other and have an independent block structure. Excellent braking and handling performance, superior handling and stability on snow and wet roads, and good drainage performance in rainy days. However, its independent block structure has poor wear resistance. Scope of application: All-weather and snow tires for cars, rear wheels for commercial vehicles.
(6) asymmetric pattern
The pattern of the left and right sides of the tread of the asymmetric pattern is different. Because it increases the landing pressure of the outer pattern during cornering, the high-speed cornering performance is greatly improved, and the wear resistance of the outer pattern is complemented. But you must pay attention to the correct installation direction of the tire. More suitable for competitive cars and high-performance vehicles.
